Questions about the MOS photo

§ 4 of Dz.U. 2026 poz. 553: JPG, at least 684 × 883 px, at most 2.5 MB, 35:45 proportion. In our own filings MOS refused a larger file, so the tool makes exactly the minimum.

It always checks the background, colour, sharpness and exposure. The optional face checker adds centring, eye line, head tilt, eyes open and mouth closed. Glasses, head covering and the age of the photo it cannot judge.

Your face is personal data. Cropping and encoding run in your browser; nothing is uploaded or kept.

Safari on iOS 17 and macOS Sonoma or later opens it. Elsewhere, email it to yourself, which in most cases sends a JPEG.

The Office for Foreigners states the same file rules for MOS uploads. Permanent and EU long-term residence applications need the same 35 × 45 mm photo.

§ 3 of Dz.U. 2026 poz. 553: 35 × 45 mm, under 6 months old, colour, plain light background, facing the camera, eyes open, natural expression, no head covering unless for religious reasons, face 70–80% of the height.

At a photographer, or yourself with a phone, against a plain light background.
